Climate(s) Moderate, Warm

Notes Deep, glacial lakes retain heat into November. In the spring, they coolness delays budburst and minimizes frost. Some of the lakes have their own AVA. Grows mostly American (Vitis Labrusca) grapes, but also some European (Vitis Vinifera) grapes. Due to the cooler climate, wines will be more aromatic and less ripe.
New York notes: Risks of early winter or spring frosts are high.
