Columbia Valley AVA notes: Lies east of the Cascade Mountains along the Columbia River and is in the rain shadow of them. Irrigation is necessary. Long summer daylight hours and cool nights to keep natural acidity. Somewhat similar to the Rhone climatewise. Though winter freeze is a risk. |
